  1. A year of ‘parkrun of the month’

In 2021- 22 we have had 7 parkruns of the month with attendance varying from 31 in July at Thornbury and in October, to 2 at Chipping Sodbury and Rogiet. We clearly don’t travel far! 59 of our men have taken part in 455 parkruns and 27 of our ladies in 193 parkruns.  So, altogether a total of 648 parkrunners at 63 locations. Most travelled parkrunner is John Franacksen with 11 event, but he didn’t visited Thornbury this year! Most popular parkruns were Thornbury with a total of 294 runners, then Severn Bridge with 63 and Chipping Sodbury with 59. We have had 25 first finishers by 8 runners at 8 different locations and a further 10 first gender finishers by 5 runners at 5 different locations. Winners of parkrun ladies and men’s outright time and age adjusted time, along with greatest number of parkruns completed in the year, will be announced at the Annual Party & Awards Night . Many thanks to Mel Lloyd for all the stats this year.

  1. Self Defence

This session is for both women and men. We need 20 people for the session and we have 6 signed up. Unless we have a minimum of 15 signed up by next Wednesday I will disappointingly cancel the event in fairness to the instructors. Saturday 28th May 9:30 – 12:30 at a Club subsidised price of just £9.50 (full price £25.50) sign up link

Shane is described as a running-technique-analyst coach and movement guru. To find out more about Shane visit www.runningreborn.com This is a whole days coaching for just 20 people and will consist of video analysis and group discussion on specific aspects of movement. Everyone takes away a copy of their video and a personal action plan. There is then a follow up webinar, about 30 days later, to review outcomes. The Club is heavily subsidising this event, as an investment in building the Club, and the cost is just £50 per person. If you would like to attend please sign up here -> Coaching Opportunity and please read the instructions in the link. If you have any questions please contact captain@thornburyrunningclub.co.uk

  1. Membership Renewal 2022-23

We will be asking you very soon to please renew your Club membership, as the Club year ends 31st March. The great news is, once again, there is no increase in membership fees for 2022-23. The membership fees are outstanding value, about 50p per week for over 100 sessions a year, plus EA subsidy, XC subsidy, Run & Rehydrate drinks, Party, Xmas chilli, CWR etc. To renew the Club’s EA affiliation the committee are being asked to complete a questionnaire about codes of conduct, inclusivity, health & safety, privacy etc. As a result we have updated our T&Cs and we need you to complete a membership application to accept these T&C please. We will sent out the link asap and we would appreciate prompt payment please, especially for those wishing to have individual EA membership subsidy, as we need to inform and pay EA.

  1. Return to the Track – Tuesday 8th March

I am delighted to say the Club’s Tuesday coaching session will be returning to WISE track (Filton) from March 8th.We will meet there twice per month on 2nd & 4th Tuesday from 7:30pm – 8:30 pm (if there are 5 Tuesdays in a month we will still only meet twice). Both Aztec & TLC groups will share the track (along with UWE) and work as two sub-groups. Anyone wishing to move between groups can then do it easily. The even better news is that the club is funding this 100%. The only payment will be car parking. I am also working on a plan to get parking passes, more about that later. Please look out for announcements in the Aztec and TLC WhatsApp coaching groups. If you are not in these groups and wish to be added please contact captain@thornburyrunningclub.co.uk
