With this time Phil sets a new club record for the men’s 10K and now holds all 5 of the men’s club records.  Well done, Phil.

20/06 Park Run News:-

Melanie Wilson was 3rd female at Thornbury in 24:59

Out touring were Leighton Prescott (30:06) who was at Porthcawl, John Francksen (40:00) who was at Fell Foot, Newby Bridge and Neil Roff (22:54) went all the way to Nobles on the Isle of Man.

 1. Frampton 10K – Postponed

The race will now take place on Monday, 20th July 2026, with a start time of 7:00 PM.

If you haven’t entered and wish to give it a go you can enter and join the waiting list and hope enough runners drop out that it gets down to you.

2. Cotswold Way Relay – Saturday July 4th

Some changes have been made because of injuries and reserves called in.  Hopefully, everyone is now sorted out.

Good luck to everyone running in the Quickthorns and Old Thorns next Saturday.

3. Summer BBQ and Annual Awards 2026

We’re looking forward to our TRC Summer BBQ and Annual Awards at Thornbury Cricket Club on Sunday 5 July ☀️
Details:

12:00 pm start (finishing around 4:30–5:00 pm)
Food served at approx. 1:30 pm
Thornbury Cricket Club, The Ship Field

All members, partners and close family are very welcome – all ages, and fine to come along on your own too.

What to expect:

FREE BBQ (including veggie/vegan options)
Games for the family (feel free to bring any along)
Bar open for alcoholic drinks (please don’t bring your own alcohol)
Soft drinks are provided for children

We’d be grateful if you could bring a dessert to share if you’re able.
We’ll also be celebrating great race results and thanking everyone who helps make TRC such a supportive club.

4. Pete Mainstone Challenge

The remaining fixture for the  Pete Mainstone Challenge  is on Sunday 19th July  – Lightning Bolt 10km (Chippenham).  Use code Thornbury2026 to get your discounted entry.

5. Avon 5K Road Relay Championships at Cleeve – Sunday 30th August

The event  starts in the flat and beautifully managed Cleeve sports and playing fields and is run on quiet country roads and footpaths in the Claverham and Cleeve area on a predominately flat course with one small climb.

Open men and MV40 have teams of 4 runners, all other teams are 3 runners (open women, FV35, FV45, FV55, FV65, MV50, MV60, MV70).  If you are interested in taking part in this event please let Moray know. 5. Park Run of the Month

We are asking members to nominate the date and location for future park runs of the month. The date can coincide with a special event e.g. birthday or milestone e.g. 100th parkrun. The location should be no more than a 30 minute drive from Thornbury. Please message treasurer@thornburyrunningclub.co.uk with your suggestions. 

6. Winter Coaching Venue Needed

While Tuesday coaching goes on through the summer on Munday Playing Fields, the coaching team are in need of a venue for the dark nights of winter.  If you know of anywhere that might be suitable with good lighting and a lack of trip hazards then please contact Nick Williams (or any of the committee who can pass it on).  Thank you.
