Riverbank Rollick – Letter Drop Sunday 4th Jan

Hi All,

We will be running the Rollick route to do a letter drop on Sunday 4th Jan, so if you would like to join us, you would be most welcome. I expect we will split into 2 groups, so everyone may not run it all if they don’t wish to.  Note the whole route is about 10 miles and it will be muddy! Meet 08:30 at the Scout Hut on Park Road, near Castle School. Google maps …. https://maps.app.goo.gl/uUnJhECDtHCakYii8

Thanks

Arthur Renshaw (Letter Drop lead)

  1. TRC Membership Fees for 2026/27

It is over 5 years since we increased or Membership Fees. After a review of income & expenditure we need an increase to cover our basic core expenses such as the hire of the Leisure Centre room, the website, England Athletics affiliation and coach and run leader training etc. Full Membership will go up by £5 to £30 and other Membership categories will also increase by £5.

We will continue to subsidize England Athletics(EA) Membership by £12 with the Member paying the balance of £11. As an encouragement for Members to complete an EA Coaching or Leadership course the Club will subsidize the full EA fee of £23.

Full details of all the Membership fees are to follow.

  1. RIVERBANK ROLLICK 2026 – 18th January 10:30 Start

We are now 2 months away from the Rollick, and already have 280 entries ! Many of last year’s marshals will marshal again (it shows how enjoyable it is !), but we do have a number of vacancies. Therefore, if you are available to help and didn’t help last year, please complete the form https://forms.gle/1zwpivDerbWnaqTJ7 .  We can then allocate you a task depending on where the greatest need is.

We do have a reputation of having marshals in fancy dress, so if you feel you wish to do that (it’s not mandatory), please feel free. It can be anything within reason – previous marshals have been Superman, Elvis, Clowns, Pirate, Fairy etc. and of course our infamous Mr Blobby ! Anything is great to help enthuse the runners – it really is fun to do. It’s a great thing to do and allows you to see a race from the marshals point of view. Hope to hear from you via the form. If you need to contact me direct, I am on jimgodden0@gmail.com

Jim Godden RR Race Director.

Oldbury 10 mile Sunday 21st September 2025 – Race Directors Report

In a marked improvement over the last two editions; participants, spectators and marshals didn’t wake up to grey clouds or torrential rain on the morning of the 2025 Oldbury 10 mile race.  It was going well so far!  However the lack of precipitation wasn’t reflected by a lack of perspiration and it is with this in mind that I want to say thank you to everyone who supported Sunday’s event.

Firstly a huge congratulations to all those who took part.  We received lots of positive feedback from the participants about the event and its organisation. We had 276 finishers with the 1st Male and Female clocking 53:31 and 59:49 respectively.  Also to recognise the following members of the club who took part;

P36 – 01:08:21 – Ali Vaz

P195 – 01:31:54 – Claire Hollingdale

Also a huge congratulations to Phil Blackburn who set a new club record in 54:34 which saw him finish 5th overall and 3rd in the Avon Championship – 10mile.

Ad congratulations to me for my contribution of getting a coffee van at the event.  I was so proud.

A lot goes on behind the scenes of these events and I want to say a massive thank you especially to Arthur, Nathan and Matt who; attained the support of the venue, timing company, managed the entries as well as countless other jobs leading up to, on the day of and following the event.  You can thank Nathan for the Jaffa cakes!  I also want to say a massive thank you to Adrian who organised the marshals as well as attaining the race licences and generally providing a huge amount of support and advice including knowing the correct number of bananas to buy within a 2% margin of error.

I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported the marshalling and all the other activities over the weekend and the letter drop last weekend.  Without your support the event really couldn’t go ahead which would be a huge detriment to the excellent contribution the club makes to its members and the community as a whole.

Thank you,    Pete (Race Director)

  1. Oldbury 10 Mile Race 21st September

Thanks to everyone who helped. The runners were very appreciative of all the Marshals out on the course. We had 374 pre-entries but despite the good weather that day we had 98 (26%) no shows leaving 276 runners who crossed the finishing line. We were very concerned about the new road works with traffic light controlled single lane working on the course. However, it did not cause any problems much to the Race Directors relief. The male & female race winner were both from Bristol & West AC – Thomas Dunford 53:31 and Deborah Bruce 59:49. Overall 15 runners went under 60 minutes including our own Phil Blackburn in 54:34

  1. Nick Williams’ Cotswold Way Challenge 100km

Some of you may be aware that my Dad was diagnosed in December 2024 with Multiple Myeloma, which is a cancer of the plasma cells in the bone marrow. Sadly, he passed away on 7th April after the cancer became more and more aggressive. Before he passed away, I had vowed to run the above event to raise funds for the charity that is seeking to raise awareness of this awful condition, and also to research the disease and medical advancements that may be able to help sufferers enter into remission, or even to find a cure. I will now be running the event on 21st June in memory of my Dad. The charity is Myeloma UK (https://www.myeloma.org.uk/), and I would invite you to take a brief look into their website, which will provide an insight into the disease and that if you are able to, to support me in raising funds, however great or small, to support the charity via this link:- https://www.justgiving.com/page/nick-williams-1

  1. Jessica Harrison Physiotherapy

Jessie is a new (again) member of TRC, and also a MSK physiotherapist specialising in womens health, mainly around postnatal/menopause, and her passion is getting women back into fitness/running following childbirth.

Jessie is hoping to be able to offer a return to running ‘C25K’ run for postnatal women, who would also be seeing her to focus on strengthening pelvic floor, imbalances and dealing with symptoms like incontinence. In order for these women truly be able to get either back to running or into running it is important to focus on personalised programmes throughout her Mummy MOT assessments, which she does privately.

Please take a look at her website (www.jessicaharrisonphysiotherapy.com) and the attached leaflet for more details, and please do get in touch with Jessie for more information.
