Park Run News:-

Mel Wilson was 3rd Female at Thornbury in 23:05 where 19 TRC runners turned out for our Parkrun of the Month to celebrate the 300th Thornbury Parkrun.

Meanwhile Jon Welsh (28:57) was out at Henley Wood, Oswestry. Neil Roff (20:54), back from Sweden, was  at Minehead.  Rebecca Acaster (35:55) was at Sharpham Road Playing Fields near Cheddar, Chris Foley (26:13) was at Bideford and Neil McLachlan (35:06) was at the famous Lyme Park, just South of Stockport and Hyde – remember it well from many childhood outings to walk and see the deer and even did a fell race there once, super.

Our foreign  tourist of the week was Jason Clark (29:49) who was at the very first running of Lyngby, not far from Copenhagen, which was quite a fast move after the Weston Prom 2 days previously.

1. Thornbury 10K Road Race – Thursday 18th June 2026 – Marshall Alert – 10 or so still needed.

Thanks to all who have signed up to help Marshall the 10k event.  We still need another 10+ people to be able to run the event safely. 

I may not be able to guarantee a beautiful evening out in the sunshine (but fingers crossed it will be).  But I can say that we have a great event with friendly runners, lovely club mates to marshal with and a very grateful race director!  Go on – you know you want to!  Here’s the link to the form  – Thornbury 10k Marshalling  

4. Club 10km Road Race Championships Thursday 4th June 19:30

Change of Race HQ which will now be at The Anchor pub, Oldbury and this race will also be part of the Pete Mainstone Challenge.  Rehydrate afterwards.

5. Pete Mainstone Challenge

Remaining fixtures for the  Pete Mainstone Challenge are as follows:-

  • Thursday 4th June – Club Road Championship Race
  • Monday 8th June – Hogweed Trot
  • Sunday 19th July  – Lightning Bolt 10km (Chippenham)

6. Park Run of the Month

Next Park Run of the month will be:

  • June 20th Thornbury for a Beginner Course Graduation

We are asking members to nominate the date and location for future park runs of the month. The date can coincide with a special event e.g. birthday or milestone e.g. 100th parkrun. The location should be no more than a 30 minute drive from Thornbury. Please message treasurer@thornburyrunningclub.co.uk with your suggestions.
