Park Run News:-

Peter Cable was 2nd at Thornbury in 19:41 where Andrew Gregory (26:01) also turned out in between international marathons.  Ashleigh Davidson was 2nd woman at Blaise Castle in 22:47

On tour this week were Moray Sloan (22:34) and Mary Hill (40:45) at Warwick Racecourse.  Neil Roff (21:57) was at River Valley just outside Dublin.  Ryan Moon (23:06), back from Zurich, was at Plymouth and Chelsea Carnall (32:32) was at Milford Haven.

  1. TRC’s Charity of the year 2026/7 Nominations by 24th April

We are asking the Membership to nominate which Charity we  should support for this year 2026/7. Please send your nominations to secretary@thornburyrunningclub.co.uk by Friday 24th April.  All nominations to include brief details of the Charity and why you are nominating them. All nominations will be voted on by the Membership and the winner will be announced at the AGM on 14th May

2. Thornbury 10K Road Race – Thursday 18th June 2026 – Marshall Alert – 30 needed.

Thanks to all who have signed up to help Marshall the 10k event.  We still need over 30 more people to be able to run the event safely.  I may not be able to guarantee a beautiful evening out in the sunshine (but fingers crossed it will be).  But I can say that we have a great event with friendly runners, lovely club mates to marshal with and a very grateful race director!  Go on – you know you want to!  Here’s the link to the form  – Thornbury 10k Marshalling  

3. Introduction to Running Course from Wednesday 22nd April

 Carole says thanks to all who have volunteered to help with Beginners. The Introduction to Running Course is taking place over 8 weeks on Wednesdays from 22nd April to 10th June at 6:45pm from TLC car park. We’ll celebrate your progress with a group parkrun and medal presentation on Saturday 20th June Cost: Just £10 for the full course! 4. AGM & Run & Rehydrate Evening  14th May

Join us for our AGM on Thursday 14th May 2026, combined with a Run & Rehydrate social.

5. Club 10km Road Race Championships Thursday 4th June 19:30

Race HQ will be at the Sailing Club and this race will also be part of the Pete Mainstone Challengel.  Rehydrate afterwards.  A full list of the 10k’s for the Pete Mainstone Challenge will be announced soon.

6. Weston 5 Mile Prom Run Thursday 21st May and rehydrate afterwards

We’re heading back to the seaside! Mark your calendars for a club trip to Weston-super-Mare for the Weston Prom 5-Mile Race, which will form part of the Pete Mainstone Challenge. Last year was a brilliant evening with almost 40 Thornbury Running Club runners making the trip down the motorway. The club will pay for your entry but you must enter yourself under Thornbury Running Club and claim your entry fee back.

Entries for the May race will open after the April race on 9/4/26, so keep an eye out for further details. We’ll let you know when you can enter. As tradition now dictates… we’ll also be bringing along some well-earned post-race snacks and drinks so we can refuel and rehydrate on the prom.

7. Pete Mainstone Challenge

The Pete Mainstone Challenge will start soon.  The race schedule for this will include:-

  • Sunday 26th April – Trust 10K Trail Run at Woodchester Park (free run)
  • Thursday 21st May – Weston Prom
  • Thursday 4th June – Club Road Championship Race
  • Monday 8th June – Hogweed Trot
  • Sunday 19th July  – Lightning Bolt 10km (Chippenham)

8. Park Run of the Month

Next Park Runs of the month will be:

  • May 16th Thornbury for the 300th event barring any cancellations
  • June 20th Thornbury for a Beginner Course Graduation

We are asking members to nominate the date and location for future park runs of the month. The date can coincide with a special event e.g. birthday or milestone e.g. 100th parkrun. The location should be no more than a 30 minute drive from Thornbury. Please message treasurer@thornburyrunningclub.co.uk with your suggestions. 

9. Cotswold Way Relay – Saturday July 4th

We have entered two teams – a mixed team and a vets team. More info to follow  .Any questions see Jo Plumbley. Team places to be sorted out in the next week or so.

10. Paris & London Marathons – looking for support

Member Andrew Gregory is running a marathon for the first time in April and to make it more difficult he is running two marathons in two weeks – Paris on 12th April & London on 26rd April.
