Riverbank Rollick 16 January 2022 – Marshals update – 03/01/22

Hi All,

Thanks to everyone who has responded, we are now only one person short to help with our race on Sunday 16th Jan.

See the updated attached schedule of who is doing what on the 16th. There are quite a lot of changes in Version 4 and some people are down for two or more jobs. Rollick Race Day Org 2022 v4 pdf  The position highlighted in purple is the one we are still missing. The one’s highlighted in yellow are helpers who have not done it before. All others not highlighted have done it in previous years and should know what to do.

The Course Marshals are divided into 6 groups each under the control of a Team Leader who marks out their section of the course and look after their group of Marshals. The Team Leaders will have a full list of their Team members telephone numbers & e-mail addresses. In total we require 51 course Marshals plus 9 others to lead the runners from the Castle School to the Start on the Pithay.

It has been tradition in recent years that the Course Marshals wear fancy dress and it looks like that tradition will be carried on this year!

See the points marked on the attached map marked 1-51.

Hopefully the schedule is now fixed but I will send out one last update next week.  If you are on the list and for some reason now can’t do it please let me know asap and it would be very helpful if you could find someone to replace you.

Thanks

Arthur Renshaw

  1. Do You Still Want Tea? (there is still time to e-mail the Captain with your comments and opinions)

For those new to the club tea & biscuits after the run was an important social opportunity which we have missed for the past 2 years. Having had to meet outside we returned to providing tea inside TLC several months ago. However we have had very few people come inside. We are now considering if we should cancel our room booking and would like your comments please. By cancelling it we save money and avoid the need for a tea rota. However we do miss out on a warm place to meet before & after and a social opportunity. If we cancel now the room may not be available to us in the future. We will review all your comments at the committee meeting 10/1/22. Thanks. Please e-mail Kevin captain@thornburyrunningclub.co.uk

  1. Club Social and Annual Awards Event

Thank you to all those who have volunteered to help. We can always use a few more volunteers so let Jo Plumbley the Race Director know. On Sunday 9th Jan there be a letter drop to residents around the course for anyone who wants to join and see the mud! Departing from the Scout Hut (Park Road Thornbury) at 8:30 it takes about 3 hours as it is start stop dropping the letters. Another Sunday morning recce of the course and Marshal positions will be arranged probably between Xmas and New Year. So far we have 231 entries, please tell your friends and colleagues about the race.

* You must be on the list i.e replied to the recent poll with your dietary needs and any intolerances

* Have completed a lateral flow test (LFT) on Thursday (16th) morning and forwarded the NHS email confirming the negative test to captain@thornburyrunningclub.co.uk by lunchtime 12:30. 1. Club Xmas Lights Run & Food – Thursday 16th December – Final Details

We have 70 people attending and need to take some appropriate precautions. Many organisations are cancelling Xmas events and we propose going ahead based on your help as listed below. We must do our bit as a club and try to keep everyone as safe as we have a wide age range and potentially vulnerable category people:

  • In light of recent Government announcements about COVID we are asking everyone to please take a lateral flow test (LFT) on Thurs 16/12 and return a negative result before attending. If somebody in your household is isolating, even if you test negative, we would ask you to do the right thing please. There also appears to be heavy colds and winter flu going around which might not be best shared, especially so close to Christmas.
  • Please bringing warm clothing as we will have windows and doors open for ventilation and those who want to can mingle outside in the heated marquee.
  • Please do what you feel comfortable with doing e.g. okay with everything but showering in a confined space, just bring a warm track suit.

Santa’s Elf Steve Dimond will lead a run leaving promptly at 7:00pm, and planning to get back by 8:00pm. Ladies get the showers 8:00-8:15, the men 8:15-8:30 and at 8:30 the food will be served. (Note: For those driving parking can be difficult so please arrive in good time to park).
