The Autumn Half Marathon races are in full swing and there were 5 Thornbury runners in the woods for the Forest of Dean Autumn Trail Half Marathon. Run entirely on forest trails and with a few minor undulations, Chris Foley lead the TRC pack in 312nd place out of almost 700 runners in 2 hours 17 seconds, followed by Mike Bennewitz in 349th 2 hours 3:40 mins, Hugh McPherson was one place behind in 2 hours 3:40 mins, Sarah Newnes 357th place 2 hours 4:40 mins and Sarah Martin 553rd in 2 hours 24:53 mins.
Mitch Ford was flying the TRC flag by himself at the Cheltenham Half Marathon. Mitch was 199th out of 2,500 entrants in 1 hour 35:58 mins.
At the Cricklade Half Marathon Nick Langridge was 60th out of 343 competitors on a windy course and 2nd in the MV60 age category. Nick’s finishing time was 1 hour 37:48 mins.
The Cardiff Half Marathon hosted some of the best road runners for the World Half Marathon Championships. Henry Orna was the lone Thornbury runner amongst the elite athletes and crowds of club and charity runners. Henry Orna ran a very disciplined and evenly paced race to finish 307th in a time of 1 hour 27:45 mins.
The Keynsham 10k is in aid of the Bristol-based charity Empire Fighting Chance, and there were over 600 runners entered on the day on Sunday. Will Hamilton and Adam Frontczak were very evenly matched and separated by only a handful of seconds, Will was the first to finish in 34th place in 42:01 mins followed one place later by Adam in 42:07 mins.
Jon Welsh was back for the second running of the Plymouth 10k and had a much-improved day, finishing 3 minutes quicker than in last year’s race. Jon was 572nd place in 51:40 mins.
Saturday’s parkrun results included a 30:54 mins run from Ann Green in Plean in Scotland. Mark West was 5th overall on the Tamar Trail course in 21:14 mins. Andrew Darton was 2nd on Thornbury course in 19:30 mins, followed by Phil Lucker 19:58 mins, Adam Frontczak 20:06 mins, Roger Glew 25:06 mins, Tom Witherbed 25:21 mins, Mel Lloyd 30:37 mins, Rachel Murphy 33:40 mins, Kathy Willott 34:46 mins, Laura Orna 37:43 mins and Rebecca Twyman 48:13 mins. Ross Phillips ran 22:27 mins at Chipping Sodbury, followed by David Palmer in 27:09 mins. Brian Godsman ran 25:09 on the Skatas course. Elsewhere, the parkrun results on 28th September included a 20:02 mins run from Henry Orna in Forest of Dean, followed by Adam Frontczak in 20:40 mins.
The previous week in Thornbury, Andrew Darton was 2nd overall again in 19:22 mins and Paul Harrod was 3rd in 19:42 mins. Martyn Green ran 21:27 mins. Hannah Kinloch Haken was the first woman to finish in 22:34 mins, followed by Richard Jackson in 27:42 mins, John Watt ran a new PB of 30:37 mins, Rebecca Twyman 33:33 mins, Richard Illingworth 34:25 mins and Ann Green 47:29 mins. At Chipping Sodbury, Chris Lee ran 26:57 mins followed by David Palmer in 28:11 mins. Brian Godsman ran Skatas in 25:50 mins and Kevin Arnold completed The Old Showfield near Frome in 22:58 mins.
