15 May 2017 – Results as reported this week


On 6th May over 13,000 runners and 20,000 spectators ran and lined the city centre streets for the ever-popular Bristol 10k.  Dylan Roberts found himself at the front of the field on the starting line and got sucked into the fast early pace with the top runners, before settling down in to a steadier rhythm. His time of 39:11 mins in 234th place was especially good considering this was his first ever road 10k.

Kevin Wood was next in 46:03 mins in 1441st place and was well placed in the competitive MV60 age category, narrowly missing out on a top 10 position.

Liam Jones is running himself back into form and finished in 2796th place in 50:19 mins, not far ahead of Jon Welsh in 2880th place in 50:36 mins. Helen Tayler was next in in a time of  1 hr 1:13 mins in 7244th place.

On Sunday, the annual Almondsbury fun run was hosted by the local Primary School and there were a range of distances to cater for all levels of running and experience including 1k, 5k and 10k.

Ros Rowland was first lady in the 10k and came away impressed with the overall organisation and the challenging multi-terrain course, her winning time was 47:04 mins. Moray Sloan was 6th overall in 46:22 mins and Hugh McPherson 15th in 52:49 mins. In the 5k run, Dave Beard jogged round with his son James who both completed the course in 35:54 mins.

Perennial parkrun travellers, David and Anne Palmer, joined 1300 other runners at Bushy Park in SW London. David’s time of 27:34 mins put him in 715th place and Anne followed in 1059th / 340th female in 32:49 mins.

Moray Sloan was our fastest parkrunner of the week when finishing 31st in 20:45 mins on the Gloucester Kingsway course. Liam Symonds-Barry ran another PB in 22:04 mins in 54th place.

Andrew Darton paced his son Thomas around the Pomphrey Hill course for the first time. They finished in 78th and 79th place in 22:29 and 23:30 mins.
